Pops grew up in New York, and relocated to Wilmington in the early 1980's. His storied life has been one of equal parts hard work and adventure.
Ten years ago, Our State Magazine perfectly captured Pops' "Life Well Spent" in the article below.
His equally hard-working son Harper will be a familiar name to many Wilmington residents, as our former Mayor currently running for another term, and as a former North Carolina Senator. Harper said it best when he summed up his Dad like this:
"Pops never ceases to amaze me. He loves life. He loves history. He loves a good laugh. He really knows himself. I'd say he's the most complete person I know."
