Angie

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

After experiencing the hardships of her mother’s later years, Angie became aware of the importance and helpfulness a caregiver can offer in difficult times. 

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

As many of our caregivers, Angie is humble in saying what makes her special. She maintains a healthy heap of humor with every client she cares for and offers a unique, lasting companionship. Beyond the desire of wanting to help others, Angie truly enriches the lives of those she enters.  

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

Angie will waste no time in telling you that she really enjoys walking her three dogs. She has two older Boxers and a German Shephard Lab mix. 

Fun Fact: Not only is Angie strong in spirit, she is quite in tune with her body! She happens to be very knowledgable in bodybuilding. She even received first place in a competition in 1996!

Anna Marie

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Anna Marie is one of our original caregivers of Always Good Company. As a mother, caregiving came naturally. Caring is defined as displaying kindness and concern for others. Anna Marie has always found herself concerned for others and happy to offer her help.  

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?  

Patience and sympathy. Anna Marie actively puts herself into people's shoes. People unfortunately don’t come with manuals. Anna Marie uses her patience to think outside the box in order to better serve others.  

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?  

She loves to cozy up with a good book and relax! 

 

Fun Fact: Anna Marie has recently become obsessed with the Great British Bakeoff show. She has decided that she is going to learn how to bake. Good luck, Anna Marie!

April

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

As a registered nurse, April felt that she never could spend enough time with her patients. Caregiving for AGC, allows her to develop relationships with clients in a slower paced environment. 

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

April is medically trained and knowledgeable of many of her client’s needs. She also possesses patience and kindness. April’s care will put your mind at ease.  

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

April loves spending time with her husband and kids! 

 

Fun Fact: April takes advantage of opportunities to travel and experience different cultures! Her family likes to plan big trips every other year overseas. She loved visiting Venice and has been in a gondola!

Ashlee

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Simply, her Grandmother, and her Grandmother’s caregivers. They allowed Ashlee's Grandmother to live out her life with the kind of quality she wishes everyone could have in their later years. Ashlee couldn’t be more thankful and appreciative of those caregivers. It inspired her to pay it forward by offering her care to others.   
 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?
Do you ever hate repeating yourself or wish that someone knew you like the back of their own hand? Ashlee has a special gift of soaking in your likes, dislikes, and even the things you didn’t even know you needed! She pays close attention to those in her care.    

 

What are you happiest doing when not working?

Ashlee likes to spend time with her family, friends, and beagle puppy!
 
Fun Fact: Ashlee is handy with a chop saw and nail gun! And when she has finished up in the garage, she can whip up a yummy batch of cookies. That’s a well-rounded lady!
 

Audra

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Audra says that all roads were leading her to take on this role at some point in her life. Once she started working for AGC and recognized what a need caregiving is, it became a logical choice to continue to work with the elderly. In addition, Audra simply enjoys all that she can learn from her clients. They all have such a rich history and are eager to share it with us as caregivers. Audra believes that being a good listener is an essential trait and key element in establishing a lasting relationship with the client. 
 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?
Audra has a great personality, is easy to talk to, is a great listener, and possesses a terrific sense of humor.  

 

What are you happiest doing when not working?

Audra enjoys any activities outside such as going to the beach. She also enjoys taking her clients out to experience the “fresh air” since most are in their homes for a good portion of their day.
 
Fun Fact: Audra is qualified to teach others how to drive a forklift!
 

Cindy

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Time and time again, Cindy found herself caring for her family members. However unfortunate the circumstances might have been, Cindy enjoyed being there for her loved ones. She never thought she would find herself missing caregiving. This inspired her to reach out to others in her community. Cindy felt she had the experience and skills to help someone else in need.  
 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?
During her years of caregiving, Cindy learned that it’s best to maintain a calm demeanor. Her passion for people drives her to deliver care that is authentic and refreshing!  

 

What are you happiest doing when not working?

Cindy is on the praise team at church. She loves to sing in the choir. When she’s not singing, she’s at home with her nose in a book.
 
Fun Fact: A couple of years ago, Cindy went to Israel! She was chosen at church to go for ten days. Ask her about the Dead Sea!
 

Clark

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Clark has always enjoyed being in the presence of, working with, and helping other people. When his mother became ill, at a young age, Clark became her caretaker. He is no stranger to helping those in need, and embraces the opportunity to make the best of unfortunate circumstances!    

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Clark has worked in healthcare for many years. He has a keen eye for upkeep and maintenance. His ability to put himself in other people’s shoes makes him a great guy to have around, and an excellent caretaker to get the job done.  

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

Whether walking the dogs or shelling, Clark enjoys being on the beach. If you are interested in seashells, Clark is very knowledgeable of shelling! He enjoys the hunt!  

 

Fun Fact: Clark was a lifeguard! Do not hesitate to ask him for stories of rescue! He will be sure to deliver a humble telling of his past. 

Crystal

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Crystal grew up in a very close, tight-knit family. She was very fond of her grandparents. In their later years, Crystal was inspired by her parent's humility, selflessness, and overall love they offered her grandparents. Crystal found a new closeness by extending her care beyond family.  

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Crystal has a desire to share love and admires her elders. Her compassion and personable nature pairs well with people from many different walks of life. 

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

This country girl loves being with her big, happy family! 

 

Fun Fact: Crystal is a piano teacher! Her musical career has spanned over thirteen years. 

Debbie

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Deborah had a successful cleaning business prior to moving to Wilmington. Many of her clients she maintained for a long period of time, getting to know them on a personal level. She found a connection with the older population as many of her cleaning clients became dependent on her for more than just cleaning. Caregiving became a natural progression for her.

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Debbie  finds she has more in common with this age group and enjoys listening and taking care of their needs. She also stated she is a great housekeeper.

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

Debbie likes to attend concerts of all types of music. She calls herself an avid concertgoer.

Fun Fact: Debbie can weld and has made metal artwork.

Diana

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

After Diana started working as a pediatric speech assistant, she realized how much she enjoyed helping people. She feels there are a lot of cross-overs between the pediatric population and geriatric clients, so becoming a caregiver was a natural progression of her career.

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?  

Diana has a lot of empathy for others and feels this makes someone a natural for caring for the elderly. She likes to make peoples lives easier and finds that by helping with everyday tasks and sharing conversation she can really enrich lives. Diana has a keen sense of anticipating her clients' needs which is a very important trait.

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?  

She loves to cozy up with a good book and relax! 

 

Fun Fact: Diana is the mother of 17-year-old triplets! She is also related to Conrad Gilbert, the first person to draw an Easter bunny on American soil.  (she is such a goofball!)

Emily

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Emily has always been surrounded with a supportive, loving family. She absolutely adored her grandmother and found that she connected with those older than her. With caregiving, she aspires to develop similar close, loving relationships. She feels that caregiving is truly rewarding and hopes to continue sharing the love her family taught her.  
 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?
Emily has the patience and perseverance to make any situation a little less unfavorable. Her positivity can help alleviate your worries or overall just make you feel better!  

 

What are you happiest doing when not working?

You can catch Emily playing live music around town or spending quality time with her dog, Oliver. In between gigs and working, she loves to attend yoga classes or even retreats in Costa Rica! She follows the warm weather and feels her best in the sunshine.
 
Fun Fact: Emily is certified massage therapist and yoga instructor! She is avid supporter of a healthy mind, body and spirit.
 

Kylie

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Kylie finds caregiving to be very rewarding. In the past, she worked in the hospitality industry. Providing service while aiming to please is so much easier when the recipient appreciates your hard work, which is what she finds with her clients at Always Good Company.

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Kylie has the rare ability to set all her feelings aside in order to better serve others. Her goals revolve around making clients feel comfortable and taken care of just like family.

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Kylie loves the beach! If the weather permits, she finds herself with her toes in the sand.

Fun Fact: Her family used to live on a boat every summer on Bald Head Island. No wonder Kylie loves the being near the ocean!

 

 

Lauren

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Lauren passionately believes that it is important to make others feel loved, accepted, and complete. Lauren graduated from college with a double major in Finance and Economics. Regardless of her educational accomplishments, she felt a calling to care for others. She believes in treating others as if they were family, and hopes to receive the same care in her later years.

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Lauren possesses all the qualities that make a superb caregiver. Her kindness and patience, paired with an abundance of empathy, make her perfect for the job.

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Lauren spends her time singing in church, going to the beach, and playing with her

kitties at home.

Fun Fact: Lauren used to help trap feral cats with Friends of Felines Rescue Center. She has personally rescued eighteen cats who now have a better life!

Maggie

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Maggie can’t think of anything more rewarding than directly contributing to a person’s independence, enabling them to live a more enriched life. She understands the importance of building relationships out of trust and mutual respect. 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Like many of our caregivers, Maggie has patiently cared for family members that have needed help long-term. Her family will tell you that her sense of humor and immense amount of compassion helped them get through the toughest times. Maggie is someone you can rely on. 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

First and foremost, tennis! When she’s not on the tennis court, Maggie keeps herself busy with many hobbies at home: knitting, crocheting, gardening, and jewelry making. Maggie’s friends get the best Christmas presents made with much love! 

Fun Fact: Maggie was one of the first female airmen in a USAF Mobile Aerial Port Squadron. Maggie is also capable of driving a Humvee! Too cool!

Marilyn

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Marilyn understands the hardships of caring for ailing parents. She was involved immensely in her parents’ care for the past three-and-a-half years. Marilyn was able to receive relief from letting a caregiver step in to help. This caregiver meant the world to her family and inspired her to become one herself.  

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Empathy. She knows how to connect to others in a very special way. Not only does Marilyn understand the importance of creating sustainable relationships with clients, but she also understands the importance of recognizing that providing care is often a team effort. Marilyn aims to work and build relationships with the whole family. Everyone matters. 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Marilyn, oddly enough, enjoys unwinding by mowing the lawn! She also loves the beach, but nothing beats the gratification she receives after achieving a freshly mowed lawn.  

Fun Fact: Marilyn had her first child at twenty one and then her second at twenty two. Sixteen years later, she had her third child! She has four grandkids and she is ready for more! 

Nancy

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Nancy’s biggest inspiration for caregiving came from caring for her mother and grandmother. It was rewarding to provide such care for her loved ones in their later years. As a registered nurse, she has always been drawn to the thankfulness and appreciation she receives from the geriatric population.  

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

You can always rely on Nancy for a good conversation. Good conversations require a healthy balance of speaking and listening. Nancy has it down to a fine art.  

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Nancy loves to cook just about as much as she likes to eat!

 

Fun Fact: Nancy spent a good portion of her life taking ballet lessons and enjoys exercising. Great way to work off those calories she cooks up in her kitchen! 

 

Penny

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Penny is a busy bee! She is a full-time Assistant Kindergarten Teacher and Mother. But after her daughter went off to college, she decided to fill up her new free time with caregiving. She loves people and her love for people has no limits.  

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Penny is the definition of a people person. She lights up a room anywhere she goes and is the kind of person you want to have stay for dinner. An invite for Penny includes fun conversation and an ample amount of listening. 

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

Penny loves to cook and clean! However, when the summer rolls around she takes advantage of her summer break with boating and fishing. 

 

Fun Fact: When Penny moved to Wilmington at 28, she lived on a sailboat and raced it in Wrightsville Beach!

Rhonda

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Rhonda possesses a natural, nurturing extinct. Caregiving has always been a part of her life.

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver? 

Rhondaʼs temperament is relaxed and peaceful. She can offer others a feeling of

calmness when life seems chaotic and unmanageable.

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

She loves her Jeep Wrangler, paddleboard, and her bike. You can always catch Rhonda outside being active and enjoying all that Wilmington has to offer!

Fun Fact: Rhonda lived in the Big Apple for a few years! She also happened to volunteer at one of the first X Games in California. Her kids were jealous!

Ruth

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Like a fly on the wall, Ruth was in awe of the caregivers that she would encounter. As she observed the incredible bonds that can evolve between two people, she noticed how meaningful the role of a caregiver can be. Ruth felt a calling to give back. She dove into caregiving and felt immediately overjoyed with her career change. Work no longer feels like work to Ruth. She couldn’t be happier! 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Ruth brings her thoughtfulness to the front line when it comes to caring for others. Even on her day off, you may find her visiting her clients. Perhaps, with a treat! 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Ruth is a homebody! She loves to join her husband, two sons, and two dogs every chance she gets! You may also find her cooking or with her nose in a book. 

Fun Fact: Ruth has lived in seven different states! Born in North Carolina and now back home in North Carolina. If you are wondering if she’s from a military family, she is not!

Ricque

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Ricque has always found herself caring for others. It could be suggested that caregiving is just in her genetic makeup. Previously a certified nursing assistant, she is no stranger to medical facilities. She also has spent years nannying young children. When you need a helping hand, Ricque will always be willing to extend her love and care to those in need. She’s a true humanitarian! 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Have you ever met someone and felt like you’ve known them for years? Ricque is that kind of person. Sometimes it’s hard to let someone new into your life and it’s good to surround yourself with people that make your life easier. Ricque’s care is the kind you welcome into your life with open arms.

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Ricque spends a lot of her time hanging with her pets and boyfriend. When her schedule permits, she truly loves traveling to visit friends and family. She also feels happy to be productive in continuing her education. 

Fun Fact: If you enjoy watching television shows, you may spot Ricque acting! She has spent the last five years with an acting agency. Also, if you ask nicely, she may sing and play guitar for you! 

Taylor

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

At an early age, Taylor cared for many of her family members. Whether it was

driving her vivacious grandmother around town or cooking up dinner for her

younger brother, Taylor constantly assumed the role of a caregiver. Naturally, she found herself gravitating towards helping others as she grew older.

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Taylor knows how to make the best of any situation. Her cheerful demeanor pairs

well with circumstances that could prove to be difficult. Sheʼs that friend you call

when life gets you down.

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Taylor loves to hang with her three rescue beagles. She also has fostered and successfully re-homed four dogs. Her love for dogs consumes her free time and she has absolutely no regrets!

Fun Fact: Taylor is an aspiring mixologist. She ends a week of hard work by trying to master a new cocktail. Party at Taylorʼs!!

Theresa

What inspired you to become a caregiver? 

Theresa is straight forward in saying that she genuinely enjoys caring for people in all walks of life. Being a caregiver is simply a no-brainer. 

 

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Theresa has a profound ability to adapt to different individuals’ needs. Each client’s needs vary, Theresa has a way to read those needs effortlessly.  

 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work? 

Anything outside! The sunshine may lead her to the beach or for an afternoon stroll. 

 

Fun Fact: Theresa's kids and grandchildren have dubbed her “The Roadrunner”. They have a hard time keeping up with her!!

Sheryl

What inspired you to become a caregiver?

Simply said, her grandmother. Her grandmother meant the world to her. When Sheryl’s grandmother fell ill, Sheryl realized the need for empathetic, compassionate caregivers. She was determined to help others in a way she feels her grandmother should have been helped. She is eager to make a difference in peoples’ lives for the good and feels that the opportunity to care for someone is a blessing.

What qualities do you possess that make you successful as a caregiver?

Sheryl strongly feels that it is important to leave an impression on someone with love. If you share love, it always comes back around. Also when it comes to experience, Sheryl has over twenty years of caregiving under her belt. 

What are you happiest doing when you are not at work?

Sheryl plays the drums! She plays with the Cape Fear Blues Society in Wilmington, NC and loves every minute of it! Sheryl finds it to be very therapeutic. She also is a professional photographer and has been shooting for thirty years. 

Fun Fact: Sheryl has recently become a grandmother! She is super excited about her grandson and can’t wait to smother him with love!
